Patchwork Friends OHCE group learn about importance of meal preparation

February 23, 2020

The Patchwork Friends OHCE group met for their regular meeting on Feb. 13 at the home of Judy Weaver. Joanne Prewett called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Barbara Cue led the group in the flag salute. Devotions were given by the hostess from the book by Ed Yeager Jr., "God Calling.” Pennies and Nickels were collected. Eva Welch and Ruth Walborn were welcomed as guests. Roll call was answered to "What is your favorite time-saving tip in the kitchen?" Those answering were Dottie Gatz, Mary Barker, Judy Weaver, Joanne Prewett, Maureen Thomas, Barbara Cue, Doris White, Marti Molby and Liz Kinzie.

Minutes of the January meeting were ready by Gatz and approved after a correction. Barbara Cue gave the treasurer's report. This was approved by the group.

In unfinished business:

• Prewett reminded the group that Monday, Feb. 24, is Achievement Night at the Woods County Fairgrounds. Better Homes OHCE and Patchwork Friends OHCE groups have the duties.

• Fair entries were discussed with each member picking their choice.

• Prewett told the group the need for new babies for the "Baby Think It Over” program that is presented to area high schools. The executive committee would like the Woods County OHCE to buy one doll. This will be discussed at Achievement Night.

Susan Holliday, Woods County OHCE advisor, and Dottie Gatz attended the Jelly Roll Quilt workshop in Fairview on Feb. 8.

Prewett gave the lesson entitled "Meal Prepping." Prewett gave each member a handout and the group discussed how using a menu for the week does work. Planning always helps.

Hostess Judy Weaver served dessert. Old valentines were given to everyone. A drawing was then held for the Hostess gifts – Maureen Thomas won them both. Pictures were taken for the scrapbook.

The next meeting of the Patchwork Friends OHCE group will be at the home of Barbara Cue on Thursday, March 11. Members were asked to invite a guest.
