Two injured in Major County collision

 


Both drivers were taken to the hospital after a collision at an intersection in Major County. The wreck occurred at 3:08 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at US-412 and US-281 (Bouse Junction), approximately 24 miles west of Orienta.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Jay Vernon Mahan, 64, of Harrah, was driving a 2017 International semi southbound on US-281 and came to a stop at the stop sign. Jesse Shane Nelson, 32, of Enid, was driving eastbound in the inside lane of US-412. Mahan proceeded into the intersection and struck Nelson’s vehicle.

Nelson was transported by Waynoka ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid and then transferred by LIFE EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition. Mahan was transported by Waynoka Ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid where he was treated and released.

The cause of the collision is listed as failure to yield at a stop sign by Mahan.
