Former BJCC warden honored in ceremony Friday

How do you honor a woman's career achievements? This was the dilemma faced by the staff at Bill Johnson Correctional Center (BJCC) in Alva. Since its beginning until her retirement in 2017, BJCC was led by Warden Janice Melton.

Becky Guffy, who was named as warden after Melton's retirement, said the staff discussed honoring her with a bench in front of the building or perhaps a bronze bust. That wasn't good enough.
