A man who says his ex-wife invited him over the weekend has now been charged with a felony in Woods County.

According to court documents, on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 4:35 a.m. Waynoka Police Officer Ian Thorp responded to a report of an “in-progress” domestic involving a woman being strangled by a man. Dispatch advised the female had gotten away from the male, and he was driving around in a silver-colored Kia Soul possibly trying to find the female.

As Thorp approached the scene, he saw a silver Kia Soul turning down High Street and parking across the street from the address where the woman was sheltering. Thorp immediately engaged his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. He identified the man as Anthony Oldfield who has had previous domestic issues with Meagan Blalock, the reported victim. He placed Oldfield in handcuffs for safety, informing him he was not under arrest at this time. He placed Oldfield in his patrol vehicle so he could check on the welfare of Blalock.

Approaching the house, Thorp saw Blalock, who was on the front porch of the house. She was not wearing clothing from the waist down and was using a flag taken from another residence to cover herself. She tried to explain what had happened but was too scared and crying to be understood. Thorp told her EMS was on the way, and he would talk to her after they cleared her.

Officer Thorp went back to his vehicle and spoke with Oldfield who said Blalock invited him to her home on Santa Fe for the Labor Day weekend. They were watching movies and drinking when Blalock’s 14-year-old daughter got angry that her mom was drinking. He said that both began to yell and argue with each other. He tried to intervene because he thought Blalock was being too harsh with her daughter. He said the argument moved to the bedroom and eventually they started becoming intimate and that strangling her was sexual in nature and consensual.

Thorp spoke with Blalock’s daughter. She said she did get angry with her mother about drinking and they did yell and argue. She said when Oldfield intervened, the argument moved to her mother’s bedroom and she went to her own bedroom. She said all she knew was at some point Blalock locked herself in the bathroom and jumped out the window. When asked if she had ever witnessed Oldfield putting hands on her mother in an aggressive manner, the girl confirmed he had in the past. After speaking with the girl, Thorp asked her to go home and get her mother some clothing.

EMS cleared Blalock and told Thorp she did not want to go to the hospital. When Thorp spoke with Blalock, she confirmed she invited Oldfield over for the weekend and they had been drinking. She said she was intoxicated and couldn’t remember why the argument started. All she could remember was Oldfield trying to strangle her. She managed to escape him and ran to the bathroom where she locked the door and cut the screen to escape being physically assaulted by Oldfield.

She was able to escape and started running down the street, stopping at the residence on High Street because the house had lights on. The residents let her come inside until Thorp arrived. When asked about her lack of clothing, she said she couldn’t remember how her clothing was removed but she did not think Oldfield would try to rape her. Thorp saw redness on and around her neck, which was photographed.

Oldfield was placed under arrest and transported to the Woods County Jail where he was released to the jailer.
