Storm brings much-needed moisture

According to OG&E, as of 8 a.m. Thursday power had been restored for more than 140,000 customers in Oklahoma following the Oct. 26 ice storm. But as of 8 a.m. Thursday, 244,000 were still without power. OG&E has more than 2,600 restoration personnel in the field.
In northwest Oklahoma, the storm brought less ice but residents have dealt with sleet and snow accumulations. With temperatures rising above freezing, the precipitation turned to rain on Wednesday, melting the frozen accumulation.
The storm brought some much-needed precipitation to the area. According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, in the past five days Alva has received 3.79 inches of rainfall. Freedom received 4.27 inches in the same time period, and the May Ranch location north and west of Alva received 3.88.
To the east in Alfalfa County, Cherokee received 3.31 inches of rainfall. In Harper County to the west, Buffalo received 3.09 inches of rainfall in the past five days. Woodward received 2.28.
