KSHSAA meets to determine if school's winter extra-curriculars will move forward

The status of winter sports and other extra-curricular activities in Kansas public schools hung in the balance Tuesday afternoon. South Barber grade 7-12 Principal Brent Shaffer planned to be on a phone call with the Kansas High School Activities Association (KSHSAA).

“It's a hot button issue,” Shaffer said. Because of Covid, there is a move to practice until Dec. 23 and not play until Jan. 15.

Shaffer is the voting representative for the Heart of the Plains League (HOPL). He said HOPL has 10 schools in it. Of those members, Shaffer said three are in favor of postponing the season. The rest, i...
