Northwestern scholarship drive kicks off Feb. 10

January 31, 2021

An annual tradition encouraging the Alva community to invest in the students of Northwestern Oklahoma State University begins Feb. 10.

Off-campus teams, consisting of a community member and either a university or foundation and alumni association employee, and on-campus teams representing each campus building compete in raising funds. These funds finance continuing student scholarships at Northwestern through the RISE (Rangers Investing in Students & Education) scholarship endowment, originally established in 2006. The Enid and Woodward campuses will also participate.

“I am thankful for the dedication these scholarship drive teams show toward Northwestern,” President Janet Cunningham said. “The support and resources given to our students are inspiring and truly let our students know that our communities stand behind them.”

Off-campus teams are led by Thelma Crouch (co-chair) and include Linda Beeler, Deb Corr, Paul Corr, Linda Tutwiler, Rachel Stephenson, Chonda Dees, Jane Tucker, Melissa Fisher, Barbara Rockenbach, Beverly Little, Naicee Sutter, Traci Williams, Jerrad Hada, Baylei Hada, Charla Turner, Karen Koehn, Charla Turner, Dayna Jordan, Skeeter Bird, John Allen, Rachel Kraus, Kat Lunn, Gracie Martin, Dr. David Pecha, Kaylyn Hansen, Shane Hansen, Calleb Mosburg, Mindi Clark and Lawana Newell.

The on-campus teams are led by Dr. James Bell (co-chair), include Dr. Bo Hannaford, Michelle Kingcade, Dr. Shawn Holliday, Dr. Jennifer Mahieu, Dr. Tim Maharry, Dr. Wayne McMillin, Natalie Miller, Jack Staats, Dr. Venkata Moorthy, Shawna Gilbert, Dr. Dean Scarbrough, Tara Hannaford, Markangela Kinnett and Debbie Anderson.

The drive will end March 10 as the off-campus and on-campus teams tally their totals.
