Traffic stop leads to felony charge

A traffic stop in Alva on a non-working brake light resulted in a felony charge against the driver.

On Dec. 28 Alva Police Officer John Caviness stopped a 1984 Bobcat motorhome with a Kansas tag due to a brake light not functioning. He spoke to the driver Ryan Hanger and observed him to be extremely nervous. Hanger said he did not have a valid driver’s license and also had a warrant for his arrest. A records check confirmed Hanger had no valid license and had a warrant from Barber County, Kansas. Caviness contacted Barber County, and they declined extradition on the warrant.
