Kiowa City Council requests low-interest loan funds for spiked electricity/fuel costs during February arctic blast

Monday night Kiowa's City Council held a brief emergency meeting. The purpose was to pass a resolution and ordinance to apply for some of the low-interest loan money available to Kansas cities that incurred extraordinary electric and/or natural gas costs during the extreme winter weather event of February 2021.

City Administrator Sam Demel presented the information in the letter the city received from the office of the Kansas State Treasurer Lynn W. Rogers. All council members were present at the meeting along with Mayor Bill Watson including: B.J. Duvall, Brian Hill, R.L. Simpson, Jason Thaye...
