A hearing before District Judge Justin Eilers last Wednesday, April 14, determined there was no way to determine with mathematical certainty the outcome of the race between incumbent Shad Brackin and challenger Michelle Shelite in the Town of Freedom election held April 6.
The result of the election was a tie vote of 45 each. However, the election board determined that one person who voted in the election actually lived outside the Freedom city limits and was therefore ineligible. There was no way to determine how this person voted.
