51st Nescatunga Arts Festival, Sugar Show pushed back to Nov. 6

Covid-19 is still causing a bit of uncertainty for the 51st annual Nescatunga Arts Festival in Alva. Normally held each year on the first Saturday in June, the festival was canceled last year because of the pandemic and has now been pushed back this year to Nov. 6.
The Nescatunga Arts Festival committee has begun meeting to set the plans in motion to have a fall event and kick off the inaugural Nescatunga Sugar Show that is open to anyone who loves to bake and decorate cakes, cookies or cupcakes.
Plans now are to have the arts festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Merchants Building at the Woods County Fairgrounds south of town with the Sugar Show set up in the Women’s Building.
The next meeting of the Nescatunga Arts Festival committee is May 10 at 7 p.m. at the Runnymede (across from the Alva police/fire station) in downtown Alva. New members are welcome to attend to help plan the festival. A membership drive currently is underway with dues being $25. Anyone interested in supporting the arts may send their dues to the Nescatunga Arts and Humanities Council, P.O. Box 152, Alva, OK 73717. Please include phone number and email address.
