Freedom Gates Boys Ranch raises near $30,000

The forms are set for the new 6000 square foot building under construction at the FGBR. The building will be their educational hub as well as supply space for more activities.

The fundraising meal and auction held in Medicine Lodge for the Freedom Gates Boys Ranch was more than successful. FGBR President Michael Simpson said the evening brought in near $30,000. He estimates 165 people attended the event which Simpson said, "Is the best year ever."

A cement truck is helping in the effort to build a 6,000 sq ft building for the FGBR in the middle of Hazelton, Kansas,.

"We are so blessed and humbled to live in such a generous community," Simpson said. "Our local area has wrapped their arms around Freedom Gates in many big ways over the years. Sometimes I wonder if we are a hard burden on our local community, but our fundraiser showed us just how much they love this ministry and love our boys. The words that come to mind are humble gratitude. Thank you all so much!"

He said the boys "loved it." They felt very much a part of it all as Simpson said the boys helped with about every aspect of the hamburger feed and auction.

Simpson, the boys and volunteers are working diligently on the new educational center and more in the 6,000 square feet metal building structure.
