A one-vehicle wreck near Alva sent one man to the hospital early Saturday morning. The crash occurred at 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Harper Road and County Road 410, approximately one mile west and 1.1 miles south of Alva.

Mark Blackbird-Alvarado, 27, was driving a 1990 Ford F150 northbound on County Road 410. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, he was going too fast to negotiate the curve, departed the roadway to the left and struck a road sign.

Blackbird-Alvarado was transported to Share Medical Center by Alva EMS with upper torso and arm injuries. He was then transported by AirEvac to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where he was listed in stable condition.
