Rock club meeting in Waynoka

Stan Nowak, president of Oklahoma State Council of Mineralogical Societies (OSCMS), is organizing a rock club in Waynoka and northwest Oklahoma. The first meeting will be held on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. in the chamber of commerce building in downtown Waynoka.

Topics of discussion will be about belonging to the club, help identifying rocks, where to find certain rocks, participation in field trips (including other clubs' field trips), learning about rocks, fossils, minerals, crystals and more, fellowship of other rockhounds, learning and/or teaching numerous aspects of earth sciences and much, much more.

Subsequent meetings will be held each month on the second Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. at the chamber of commerce building in Waynoka.

Schedules of numerous rock swaps (tailgaiting/street/sidewalk rock sales) and rock shows will begin in March.
