An almost perfect season, part 1

 


As we have seen recently, baseball enthusiasts cannot get enough of statistics – specially unusual ones. This is yet another story about that uniquely incurable disease.

For pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB), the “gold standard” of performance is to win 20 games in a season. The vast majority of pitchers, however, never come close to that mark.

Moreover, such athletes can be quite successful and have productive careers without ever expecting in their dreams to win 20 games. But, dream they do.
