Man injured when motorcycle hits hawk

A collision with a hawk sent a motorcycle rider to the hospital on Saturday. The collision occurred in Grant County at 1:25 p.m. on US-81 approximately 1.9 miles north and 1.4 miles east of Renfrow.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Robert D. Patton, 36, of Midwest City, was riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on US-81 when a hawk that was in the roadway flew up in front of him. After the motorcycle struck the hawk, it traveled 67 feet before rolling over on the side. The motorcycle and driver slid another 276 feet before coming to rest.
