Fixing runway lights a priority at Alva Regional Airport

The runway lights at the Alva Regional Airport are out again, presenting a safety issue for aircraft. The lack of lights means no air ambulance fixed-wing aircraft can make landings for medical transport after dark. There’s also a financial impact, preventing travelers from landing at night to buy fuel.

The lights were out earlier this year, but electricians were able to restore power to one section, enough to allow night landings for aircraft. The Alva Airport Commission has been anticipating a more permanent fix for all the lighting in a future project, but the new outage means they need to...
