Two men die in plane crash at Gage

Two men died in the crash of a small plane at the Gage airport Monday morning. The occupants of the aircraft were James Wade Bruce, 54, of Shattuck, and David Rondel Dodd Jr., 30, of Austin, Texas. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 8:25 a.m. Monday at the Gage airport, which is located one mile southwest of Gage in Ellis County. The men were in a Cessna 170 with tail number N2710D.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.

Responding to the scene were OHP Troopers, Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, Ellis County EMS, Shattuck Fire Department, Gage Fire Department, FAA, NTSB and the Office of Medical Examiner.
