New commissioners learn the ropes at Jan. 3 meeting

 

January 4, 2023

Two new commissioners were sworn in at Tuesday's Alfalfa County commissioners meeting at the Cherokee courthouse. Garret Johnson replaced Jay Hague as District 1 commissioner and Nate Ross replaced Marvin Woodall as District 3 commissioner. Mike Roach continues as District 2 commissioner.

All members were present, as were County Clerk Laneta Schwertfeger and Nancy Lambert, the commissioners' admin.

New boards must elect new officials. Johnson nominated Ross to be the new board chair.

Roach counseled that it was a lot of work for a new guy to take on, adding "we just assumed I would be chairman...
