South Barber hosts Central Christian for Basketball Homecoming Friday

Class 1A Div II – Sub-state boys and girls basketball tournament at South Barber Feb. 23–March 4

Friday night, February 10, the South Barber Chieftains celebrate their basketball homecoming. One of three senior women will wear the crown at a coronation during halftime of the boys game where the Chieftains and Lady Chieftains welcome the Central Christian Cougars for hardwood action.

The 2023 South Barber Basketball Queen Candidates are: Jazzmin Binning, Meagan Terrell and Linzee Wilbur.

Underclassmen attendants and escorts are: freshmen – Danielle MacKinney and Brayden Duvall; sophomores – Ava Sahadi and Oakley Duvall; juniors – Autumn Drake and Bryson Rathgeber.

Kindergarten helpers are Cooper Brattin, son of Charley and Nikki Brattin; Lincoln Howland, son of Desiree Howland; Kimber Adams, daughter of Jessica Adams; and Faye Kuhr, daughter of Ashley Kuhr and the late Alex Kuhr.

Meet South Barber's Homecoming Queen Candidates

The daughter of Donna and Garret Binning, Jazzmin Binning is the reigning Miss South Barber. Her extra-curricular activities throughout high school include: FFA, NHS, Student Council, drama, forensics, vocal, gymnastics, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and cheer. She has held offices in Student Council, FFA, 4H, her class, and the Gelbvieh Junior Livestock Association. In the fall she plans to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University and participate in track and cheer. After graduation, Binning wants to pursue a degree in business finance and accounting. Jazzmin hopes to become an accountant or a human resources consultant.

Megan Terrell is the daughter of Teri Mobley and Brian Terrell. This year, she is involved in FCCLA, Yearbook, and forensics. Terrell has been on the honor roll throughout her entire high school career and was named Student of the Month. Her favorite class is baking and pastry-making because she loves learning how to bake and make new things. Terrell's most significant achievement is getting into a CNA class because it's a step toward her dream career. After high school, she plans to attend nursing school at Missouri State University as she wants to become a registered nurse. Terrell's grandpa is her hero, and her favorite quote is, "It's impossible to start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one."

Lynzee Wilbur is the daughter of Jamie Day, who is her hero. At SBHS, Wilbur is actively involved in tennis, forensics, Scholar's Bowl, FCCLA, soccer, and is class secretary. She has been on the honor roll and also qualified to compete in State Forensics the past two years. Her favorite high school memory is going on the trip to State Forensics during her junior year. Wilbur's favorite class is Government because she enjoys learning about the country's politics and playing Jeopardy. In the future, Wilbur plans to attend Northern Arizona University with a double major in psychology and criminal justice. She hopes to pursue a career in law enforcement.

All you basketball fans, you can see lots of games when South Barber hosts the Class 1A Div II - Sub-State Boys and Girls Basketball tournament in Kiowa Feb. 23 to March 4.
