Artists and an author will be at Graceful Arts Gallery tonight

"American Bison" is part of an acrylic painting by Virgil Penner on display during May at the Graceful Arts Gallery in Alva.

Tonight the Alva First Friday Art Walk is accompanied by the Kids and Cops Cars, Concerts and BBQ. The Art Walk from 6 to 8 p.m. includes Graceful Arts Gallery and the Old Man's Gallery, located just a few doors apart on Barnes Avenue on the south side of Alva's square.

Although he paints a wide range of subjects, Robert Daniels' exhibit at Graceful Arts Gallery this month looks to the skies with aviation, science fiction and planet themes. This acrylic is titled "Clear Skies."

At Graceful Arts Gallery, the three featured artists are expected to attend to visit with patrons. Longtime artist Robert Daniels is showing paintings that look to the heavens with airplanes, planets and science fiction. Virgil Penner uses bright acrylics in rural scenes with barns, silos and animals. Cassie Beeson, whose work is featured on the front cover, is displaying people enjoying the outdoors with beach scenes, fishing and bike riding. This month's theme is "Sun, Fun & Friends" at the gallery.

Author Sheldon Russell will be at Graceful Arts tonight to sign copies of his latest book titled "Listen." The gallery is also displaying sculptures by his wife Nancy Russell. The gallery will be serving refreshments during the Art Walk.

Just down the street at the Old Man's Gallery in the Bell Hotel, Warren Little will guide visitors around his collected works including drawings, paintings and photographs.

In the middle of the square, the People's Choice BBQ contest will be held with a chance to vote for your favorite flavors. The Little Red Hens are holding a street dance from 7 to 11 p.m.
