Bruce and Betty bring laid-back southern gospel to Church of the Nazarene

County/Southern Gospel duo Bruce and Betty will perform at the Nazarene Church on Sunday, May 7, at 6 p.m.

Hailing from Buckeye, Arizona, (but originally from Missouri) they started in 1973 as a family group and traveled 40 states full-time from 1980 through 1988. For two months in 1983 they were sent on a USO tour for the armed forces in Germany and Italy.

They now travel as a duet using a guitar for accompaniment, providing a new type of service that is similar to a town hall meeting, but held very informally in the church or fellowship hall. They sit down without microphones so that the audience can join in talking and singing with them in a very relaxed setting. The Spirit is present in these services and provides a good opportunity to invite guests and your neighborhood to join in, the group said in a news release.

Bruce was a professional country musician at Lake Ozark, Missouri – part of a family country music show.
