Miss Northwestern Oklahoma State University 2023 Emily Smith, Holdenville senior majoring in vocal music education, will represent the university and northwest Oklahoma in the 2023 Miss Oklahoma competition June 6-10 at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa.

Joining Smith at the competition will be Northwestern Star Tierney Jade "TJ" Crissup and Miss Northwestern's Teen 2023 Tristyn Burgess.

Forty women from across the state will compete in talent, on-stage question/health and fitness, evening gown and a private interview highlighting the community service initiative they will represent throughout their title.

Smith will be candidate No. 8 in the Mu group. Her interview will be on Tuesday, June 6, and she will perform her talent on June 8, a vocal performance titled "Think of Me." Her onstage question/health and fitness and evening gown competition will be on June 7. Her community service initiative is "Make Big Talk." The final competition and crowning of Miss Oklahoma will be at 7:30 p.m. on June 10.

Burgess is in the Alpha group and will complete her interview on Thursday; fitness, on-stage question and evening gown on Friday afternoon; and talent on Friday night during preliminaries. Burgess' talent is a contemporary acrobatic dance to "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John. Her community service initiative is "Social Inclusion for Children with Disabilities." The final competition and crowning of Miss Oklahoma's Teen will be at 2 p.m. on June 10.

A send-off party for Smith, Burgess and Crissup before they leave for the Miss Oklahoma competition is open to the public in the Student Center Ballroom on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. Smith will perform her talent at the send-off party and will be joined by Burgess to model their competition gowns and interview attire.
