Fans donated to low-income families

OG&E volunteers Rocky Dutton, Dennis Pearson and Randy Mason team up with Northwest Family Services employees Jimi Lindell, Kylie Franz and Amanda Lambert to distribute new electric fans to Alva residents in need to help them stay safe and cool in the summer heat.

OG&E partnered with the local organization Northwest Family Services and on Tuesday, June 6, handed out 30 fans in the Alva area to those who may be at a higher risk for heat-related injuries and illnesses.

"For many families with low income, the summer heat can be a challenge," said Brenda Rose, executive director at Northwest Family Services. "We're grateful to OG&E for this generous donation and for supporting Alva's most vulnerable citizens!"

"At OG&E, we are committed to serving and strengthening our communities," said Alex Mantz, community affairs manager at OG&E. "Our fan donations help our communities' most vulnerable residents stay cool during the hot summer months."

The fan donation program is just one of the ways OG&E helps customers find ways to stay safe and comfortable during the hottest months of the year. Each summer, OG&E partners with local libraries, senior centers, churches and other locations throughout its service area to open Cool Zones, which provide heat-wary residents a place to go and cool down during the hottest times of the day. A list of Cool Zones is available at oge.com/coolzones.

Customers can take more control of their energy usage and monthly bill by enrolling in an energy-saving program that best fits their needs, like SmartHours™, the Weatherization Program, the Silver Energy Program, or the Low-Income Assistance Program (LIAP), which provides a $13 per month bill credit to qualified customers.
