$2.1M Childcare Grant benefits three Kansas counties

 


Much-needed childcare is going to see 198 new daycare slots in five communities in the Kansas counties of Barber, Harper and Kiowa.

Funding comes from a $2.1 million Childcare Accelerator Grant, according to Julie Lyon, who is director of the Kiowa County Economic Development (at Greensburg) and also interim director of Barber County Economic Development. Lyon writes grant applications, but said for such large amounts, she seeks help from a professional grant writer. “It's worth the expense,” Lyon said of receiving a $2 million grant.

Lyon said they are forming a Tri-County Childcare Coalition...
