Seasonal Affective Disorder is associated with the cold, dark winter months that cause some people to experience sadness, hopelessness and lack of interest in activities they once enjoyed. I had experience with it, which I blamed on the lack of a window in my classroom.

The exact cause of SAD is not fully understood, but it is thought to be associated with factors such as reduced sunlight exposure, disrupted melatonin and serotonin levels, and circadian rhythm disturbances.
