Jesus Arizmendi completed the practical nursing program at Northwest Technology Center in 2017. He then went on to earn his associates degree in nursing from Northern Oklahoma College, which allowed him to become a Registered Nurse (RN). He also completed the nursing program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and earned a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).

Arizmendi is currently employed as a travel nurse with the Medical Solutions organization. Beginning in February of 2023, he was assigned to Beebe Hospital in Lewis, Delaware. After completing his assignment there, he was assigned to the California Hospital in downtown Los Angeles. California Hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center.

Arizmendi is visiting his family in Alva for the next month. His next assignment will begin in February. He will be notified of the location of his next assignment in the next few weeks. The upcoming rotation will run from February through May.

"Students are not limited by living in a small community. I learned so much working at Share Medical Center and going to school at Northwestern and at Northwest Tech." stated Arizmendi. "I had a lot of opportunities in the PN and Health Careers programs at NWTC, including traveling to the International HOSA Conference and participating in an international HOSA event."

Arizmendi grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and graduated from Alva High School. He is the son of Felipe and Erika Arizmendi. He worked at Share Medical Center for five years. He also worked in the ICU at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, prior to beginning his career as a travel nurse.

According to Tara Thomas, practical nursing director at NWTC, "Jesus has always had an aptitude for emergency medicine." Brooke Meyer, health careers instructor at NWTC said, "It has been awesome to watch Jesus continue setting higher goals and continue achieving each one of them. I am so proud of the amazing healthcare professional that he has become."

More information about the NWTC programs which train students for a career in healthcare is available on the NWTC website at http://www.nwtech.edu.
