The long-awaited groundbreaking for the swimming pool in Alva is scheduled for next week on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. Temperatures are likely to be chilly so the ceremony will begin indoors at the Alva High School gym located just across the street. Then the group will move outdoors to the swimming pool location for the ceremonial groundbreaking and photos. The pool will be designated as the Cory Washburn Family Swimming Pool, recognizing the substantial donation made by the family on behalf of Cory who lost his life too soon in a plane crash.
