Many sports trivia fans know that the most lopsided score ever in a college football game was 222-0. The contest that produced that sad result was Georgia Tech versus Cumberland University. The year was 1916.

Georgia Tech was then (and is now) a major university with a big-time sports program. Cumberland was (and is) a small liberal arts institution located in Lebanon, Tennessee.

At one time, however, Cumberland also had a major sports program, including a football team that could compete with teams from schools with much larger enrollments. Case in point: 1903.
