(AP) — A federal judge ordered Kansas on Wednesday to pay a total of $1.42 million to attorneys who succeeded in getting the federal courts to strike down a state law requiring new voters to show papers documenting their U.S. citizenship when registering. WICHITA, Kansas (AP) — A 7-year-old Arizona girl was killed Tuesday in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 50 in in southwest Kansas. The child, Isabella Rodriguez-Rivera, was a passenger in a Volkswagen Tiguan that tried to pass a vehicle at around 1:50 p.m. near the highway's intersection with County Road 118 in Ford County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Active Covid-19 case numbers have decreased by 32 this week. The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) report on Sept. 15 showed Woods County with 40 cases, down from the 72 reported on Sept. 8. The report also showed one additional death in the county. Numbers are also down in the state with 23,533 active cases on Sept. 15 compared to 27,332 a week ago. For the third time, Freedom school district voters failed to pass a school bond proposal. In Tuesday, Sept. 14, voting, 58.02 percent voted in favor with 41.98 percent against. A 60 percent majority is needed for passage. Of the 162 people voting Tuesday, 94 voted in favor and 68 against. After the first bond proposal failed, the list of improvements was split into two separate propositions with the hope that voters might at least pass one. Those were rejected.
