Shame on you all

November 12, 2017

If you have missed it, the “Never Ending Story” is alive and well at the Capitol. The governor said she would make them stay until Christmas if necessary to fix the budget. Well, DUH! Why would they care, because they are getting paid to do nothing while nursing homes are closing; teachers are leaving; the poor, mentally disabled, old folks and veterans are in dire straits in Oklahoma. Shame on you all. Don't point your finger at the other party and tell me it's their fault. Man (or woman) up and “git-‘er-done!”

Monday evening I got to be the guest of my son, Justin, at the Moose Lodge appreciation dinner for men and women of our armed services. Someone told me I had a free meal to write about in this week’s story. I thought about it and my meal was anything but free. The men and women sitting around me and the millions that have preceded them made this meal and the freedom to gather to enjoy it possible. Thank you, one and all. The meal was very good, with a fork-tender chicken fry. I knew it would be because Danny and his crew always do a good job. Thanks to the Moose Lodge for honoring our military.

One thing that was kind of cool for me was when asked to stand when your branch of the service was called, Justin stood up twice. He was a Marine and in the National Guard too. Honor a veteran this weekend by thanking them for their service.

The yard crew (Jerry and Grace) were over Thursday. While cleaning out a flower bed Cleo noticed her cow was gone. Very seldom does Cleo find something that she wants bad enough to bid until she owns it. The cow and a pig pair of yard ornaments were such a thing. Fortunately, the other bidder ran out of money sooner rather than later, so after the auction I went to pick them up. They were black and white, very cute and very heavy. This was a poor birthday present for her, losing her treasure. If someone gave you a cool Holstein cow for a present, please return it to its real owner. I know this is not a Christian attitude, but I hope the thief got a hernia and really suffered when they took it. What is sad is thieves quite often steal stuff with no value to them and throw it away or destroy it.

This explains a lot: Man was talking to God. “Why did you make women so cute and cuddly?”

“So you would love them my son," God replied.

Then the man asks, “Why did you make them just a little bit dumb?”

God replies, “So they would love you, my son!”
