Alva schools hire several teachers for next year

Alva Supt. Steve Parkhurst announced as OASA District 2 Superintendent of the Year for 2018. Also, Tiim Argo was announced as District 2 Assistant Superintendent of the year. Board President Jane McDermott said Mr. Parkhurst was chosen from 20 competitors. A banquet honoring the pair will be held at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in Norman June 5-7, 2018.

Superintendent Steve Parkhurst said the district is still in good financial shape. The total investments of all unspent funds is deposited in local banks at interest rates ranging from 0.75 to 2.2. The total is $12,007,200.31. The district also has an end of month cash balance of $795,124.92 with outstanding warrants of $79,800.84. This gives total monies of $12,515,324.39.

In comparing this year to last year, Supt. Parkhurst reported the district has encumbered $883,005.36 more. In warrant comparison, the total of FY 2017 was $7,339,835.30 compared to FY 2018 of $7,849.294.64, an increase of...
