Alfalfa County approves resolution for Cares Act and Coronavirus Relief Fund

September 2, 2020

The Alfalfa County commissioners (Jay Hague, Stan Tucker and Marvin Woodall) got to work Monday morning and were welcomed by a full gallery in the conference room. Several guests were present to talk about the change in the Kelli KIT purchasing system. (The change is for the district barns and the commissioners' office in the courthouse.)

According to the agenda, procedures for highway encumbering purchase orders and reports with the County Clerk were up for discussion. A lengthy exchange ensued between the commissioners and district barn employees Ashley Shields, LaToya Hunter and Lena Roach. Employees are looking into ways to reduce costs and find more efficient ways to conduct business. The women were happy to give feedback on what is working at their barns and what's not.

Before that conversation, the commissioners went through the usual items of signing maintenance and operation payment warrants, previous meeting minutes and blanket purchase orders. There were no road-crossing permits.

Back in mid-August, the bidding process opened for the county election board's 12-month ballots. Officials chose Midwest Printing at the recommendation of election board secretary Kelly Stein.

Next, approval for the rescinding of a materials request form for District 1 (FY 2020-2021) with CED #8 was given along with consent for a new one.

The commissioners approved a Certificate of Compliance for OMMA Businesses for the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority and a compliance letter for Galvanized Farms LLC before moving on to support a resolution concerning funding to the Cares Act and Coronavirus Relief Fund.

The Alfalfa County Board of Commissioners resolves the presumption that all public safety personnel costs of the county for the period Mar. 1 through Aug. 1, 2020, were substantially dedicated to the county's COVID-19 response efforts. County staff is authorized and directed to proceed with an application to the State of Oklahoma for reimbursement of COVID-19 related public safety personnel costs for the stated period.
