Happy anniversary, Cleo

On July 17 we have made it 56 years in holy wedlock. Three things that you need to know to last that long: First, don't worry about how good the neighbor's wife or husband looks. If you steal them away you may find out why their spouse didn't put up a fight. Tend to business at home, and the rewards will be great. Second, nobody is all wrong or all right. Agree to disagree and put up a united front to your family and friends. Last, be flexible. So many young people today don't try to work things out and find it easier to just quit. You loved each other enough to get married, so give it every chance to work.

One last thing: a good Christian attitude will go a long way in making it all work. You just got advice from a guy that has a medical degree from a Crackerjack box, but it worked for us, mostly. We were pretty broke after 10 years of marriage, so I tried to join the Army. The guy told me after 10 years of marriage, I didn't have any fight left.

Jack and I went to Wichita, Kansas, last Saturday to play pinball. We had a good time, and as we were leaving got to check out a car show next to Oldtown. There were several vintage cars, but it seemed to me like there were lots more "modern junk." My favorite was a PT Cruiser convertible someone had put a frame under and a big motor.

I hope everyone had a lot of fun at the Cruise/Crazy Day Saturday in Alva.

Thursday afternoon at Garnett Oil there was a nice looking '59 Chevy four door car with a flat. I went over for a closer look and discovered a lady friend from Waynoka I hadn't seen for several years. We had a good visit and after enjoying her car moved along.

In 1969 Charles Manson and his "cult family" killed at least nine people in California. Recently, a member of the family, Leslie Van Houten, has been paroled. Sure, this animal has spent her life in prison. I feel like the parole is a slap in the face of everyone who lost family back then. The day the people they killed come back to life is when she should have gotten out. Not a Christian attitude? What if it was your loved one they killed?

Let's all be safe out there, pray for cooler days, and God bless.
