The light in my room is on one side of the room and there is always a shadow on my desk. I have needed a lamp for a long while but hated to spend the money. I finally gave up and found a nice freestanding lamp with a desk light on it for $14. Pretty cheap I thought. I go back to buy bulbs for it and there was the shock. The bulbs cost more than the lamp did! I guess it has been a while since I bought a bulb because they used to be a couple of bucks for a package of four.
